Jang Ji-Hyang

Director of Middle East and North Africa Program, The Asan Institute for Policy Studies
Leadership and the Legacies of the Arab Spring (Moderator)

JANG Ji-Hyang is a research fellow and the director of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Program at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Jang received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and B.A. and M.A. from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea. She has conducted research on democracy, capitalism, and globalization in the Middle East and North Africa and the Muslim World with a combined approach of historical and rational choice institutionanlism. She is author of “Islamic Fundamentalism” (International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences 2008) and “Contingency and Diversity in Revolution: How Can We Explain the Middle East Spring?”(Asan Issue Brief 2011).
