Professor Yan is Dean of The Institute of Modern International Relations at Tsinghua University and Chief Editor of The Chinese Journal of International Politics. He is also Vice Chairman of the China Association of International Relations Studies and the China Association of American Studies, and a member of the Consultation Committee of the Ministry of Commerce. He is the author of Ancient Chinese Thought, Modern Chinese Power (2011), Practical Methods of International Studies (2nd ed., 2007), International Politics and China (2005), and American Hegemony and China’s Security (2000). He has published more than one hundred papers and articles on international relations. Dr. Yan received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, his M.A. in international relations from the Institute of International Relations, and a B.A. in English from Heilongjiang University.
