Alexander Bukh

Alexander Bukh

Dr. Bukh is a senior lecturer in international relations at Victoria University of Wellington. Prior to taking this appointment he held teaching positions at the Tsukuba University, Waseda University, London Metropolitan University, and the London School of Economics (LSE). He was also a parliamentary aide to Azuma Shozo from 1998 to 2000 and a program officer at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation from 2000 to 2001. His latest publications include an article on Japan`s quest for the Northern Territories, published in the journal International Relations of Asia-Pacific and an edited volume chapter on early Soviet perceptions of Japan and China. He is the author of Japan`s Identity and Foreign Policy: Russia as Japan`s Other, which was translated into Russian and published in November 2012. He holds a B.L. from Seinan Gakuin University, an LL.M. from Tokyo University, and a Ph.D. in international relations from the LSE.
