Building Public Confidence in Nuclear Safety / How Safe Are Nuclear Power Plants in South Korea?

Professor Ahn is a professor and the vice chair of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Previously, he was a lecturer at the University of Tokyo and an assistant professor at Tokai University. He is currently also affiliated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a geological faculty scientist. Professor Ahn has been a member of the Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board, National Research Council, and National Academies. He is a fellow at the University of Tokyo, a Minner Faculty Fellow in the College of Engineering, UC Berkeley for Engineering Ethics and Social Responsibility, and the chair of the Book Publishing Committee of the American Nuclear Society. Professor Ahn’s research focuses on performance assessment for advanced nuclear fuel cycles and geological disposal of radioactive wastes. He received a D.Eng from the University of Tokyo and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley.
