Panel Description
The Indo-Pacific region is emerging as a new focal point of conflict due to tensions between the U.S., China, and Taiwan, conflict between the United States and China over “Freedom of Navigation” in the South and East China Seas, territorial sovereignty disputes over the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands between China and Japan, North Korea’s nuclear threat, and discussions on supply chain restructuring. What are the positions and perceptions of the U.S., China, and other countries towards conflicts and confrontations in the Indo-Pacific? What is the probability of actual military conflict in the Indo-Pacific, especially on the Korean Peninsula and in the Taiwan Strait? What should countries do to maintain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region?
