Panel Description
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US Alliance, which has successfully prevented a second Korean War. However, the threat against South Korea and other allies in the region continues to grow as North Korea remains undeterred in developing its nuclear capability. There is a growing call for strengthening U.S. extended deterrence and assurance to South Korea. How do countries in the region assess North Korea and its nuclear threat? Is it feasible to achieve the denuclearization of North Korea? What are the obstructive factors to realize the denuclearization of North Korea? How should the ROK-US alliance and the international community cooperate to achieve the denuclearization of North Korea?
